Vacancy: Junior Copywriter

Job Summary

We have a great opportunity for a Junior Copywriter to join our creative department. You’ll be crafting copy for a range of existing B2C and B2B brands, and helping to create new brands. Reporting to the Head of Copy, you’ll be involved in everything from writing headlines, brand narratives and social media posts, to coming up with ideas for campaign tactics. This is a varied creative role that would suit someone with 1-3 years’ agency experience.

The person – you will…

  • Have excellent written and spoken English skills with a good grasp of grammar and punctuation
  • Be good at copywriting and eager to improve
  • Be versatile – able to write short and long copy (e.g. headlines, brand narratives and social media posts – not just blog posts), with different tones of voice, to create ideas, and to think visually
  • Be reliable – able to manage your own time and consistently deliver good work to tight deadlines
  • Be able to work independently, as well as part of a creative team
  • Be upbeat – ready to tackle any challenge and able to keep your head in a busy environment
Your main responsibilities:

1) Deliver Great Work That Works

  • Understand your clients’ brand and sector so you can create and write effective work/campaign concepts that answer the agency briefs
  • Ensure that you understand the agency briefs from the client services team
  • Think visually and begin to have opinions on art direction
  • Work effectively with creative colleagues to produce well-rounded solutions
  • Ensure great attention to detail by thoroughly checking all work
  • Consistently produce work to a good standard.

2) Organisation & Time Management

  • Manage your time, allowing for reviews, and ensure deadlines are met
  • Make sure work is filed and saved correctly
  • Work proactively, spotting potential problems and solving them in advance
  • Maintain a professional approach to timekeeping.

3) Communication & Relationships

  • Be an enthusiastic and trusted member of the department and agency
  • Have excellent communication and working relationships with Client Services
  • Be professional, positive and helpful when taking feedback on your work
  • Build and maintain strong, professional, collaborative relationships with your colleagues throughout the agency.

Required skills

  • Excellent written and spoken English skills with a good grasp of grammar and punctuation
  • Educated to degree level, ideally (though not essentially) in a relevant subject
  • Good and improving copywriting ability
  • Excellent attention to detail – proactively learning proofreading skills
  • Excellent Microsoft Word skills
  • Good organisation skills
  • SEO writing skills a bonus.

Experience

  • 1-3 years, ideally in an agency or similar environment
