Animal magic

It was a night to remember for Propaganda as we attended the prestigious Motor Transport Awards at the gorgeously glam Grosvenor House Hotel in London, to watch client, Clipper Logistics, scoop a national award.

The event, now in its 24th successful year is the road transport industry’s equivalent of the Oscars, and everyone who’s anyone in the industry was there (1,400 to be precise), all dressed up to the nines to celebrate and recognise the outstanding quality and exceptional standards within the industry.

After much anticipation, some pretty good food and a few glasses of champers, the moment we’d all been waiting for arrived, as the judges announced, “and the winner of this year’s Livery of The Year Award is …… Clipper Logistics”. We could have jumped for joy!

The awards were judged by a panel of 65 independent industry figures, which commented that Clipper’s new livery is: “A quirky, stylish and unusual concept. The green and white backdrop is clean and bold, making the company highly recognisable.”

And another reason to celebrate… the stunning livery was designed by Propaganda’s talented design team. The design’s purpose is to reflect Clipper’s brand campaign message of ‘Logistics Evolved’ and to link it to Clipper’s ‘agility matched by ability’ brand proposition. The result, a stunning new visual identity, with a progressive, contemporary twist, using animals that represent speed and agility and combining them with animals that represent power and ability, to make one image of an evolved animal hybrid.

A delighted Steve Parkin, chief executive, Clipper, accepted the award, which was presented by none other than Scottish impressionist, playwright and comedian, Rory Bremner!

A massive Congratulations to Clipper and a well deserved pat on the back to Propaganda too...

Set shutter speed to ‘good god, he’s good’

Cooler than ice in James Bond’s Martini.
Eye sharper than a hungry eagle.
Shutter finger keener than a trap 5 greyhound.
Part Megatron, part Vagabond - introducing the mighty Kareem Black.

Born in Philadephia – the city, not the popular soft cheese – but now based in New York, he started a career in music photography and celebrity portraiture in 2000 and has since worked with some of the planet's most talented people. Spike Lee, Michael Stipe, Moby and even… yes... The Burger King.

Most recently he’s been shooting with us in London. Sadly at the time of posting we can’t tell you who it’s for, so you’ll just have to check back in a week or two. Well, we could tell you, and we wouldn’t even have to kill you afterwards, but it would cause difficulties for everyone.

What we can say is it was a big success and Kareem did an amazing job. He's a great guy to go for a beer with, and more importantly, a great guy to have in front of you taking the shots.

Look lively in August/September – this campaign’s gonna rock your world/knock your socks off.

A Royal Day at Seabrook Crisps

What a lovely day at Seabrook Crisps today. The sun was shining, the crisps were flowing, oh, and HRH Princess Anne dropped by.

But really, flanked by tons of (quite frankly, very hunky) bodyguards and police, having sent in the sniffer dogs earlier, and an imposed ‘police lockdown’ after 11:30am, it was all actually very dramatic and exciting.

The Princess was there to take a royal walk around the factory with Chairman, Ken - to the delight of all the factory workers - and officially open Seabrook Crisps’ converted 19th century weaving shed, which is now its uber sleek HQ, as well as help it celebrate Seabrook’s 65th anniversary.

What better excuse for a party. Yorkshire’s movers, shakers and media were all there from 11:30am drinkers champers in the sun…. and they’re still there now…. drinking champers in the sun, toasting the lovely Princess Anne, who left in a spectacular convoy of sleek, shiny black vehicles. Splendid.

Brands and the city

As the temperature hit a scorching triple digit on Tuesday, Manhattan became unbearable and we chose to take cabs everywhere for the benefit of air con. I think we took one to cover a distance of only 400 metres!!

We are in the City to meet our PR partners. Without doubt the new laws on TV product placement and also the continued fascination with celeb endorsement is the key PR focus here. The word here is that the NY people are having a real identity crisis and the brands that are bringing some light relief to the debate are doing really well.

We spent the evening with Kelly Cutrone from TV's 'The City' and 'The Hills' who was full of praise for both Propaganda's credibility stateside and of course our Illamasqua project that is out here in just over 30 Sephora doors.

Tomorrow we meet Bold PR who have done a great job for Illamasqua and we shall also be representing other Propaganda clients on the journey.

I've always said there is a great work energy here and coming to, and especially working in NY certainly tops up the batteries.
